MILANO – FC Bayern’s coaches are in Milano to meet the kids involved in Inter Campus Italia. The morning was spent in the pediatric oncohematology department at Fondazione Maria Letizia Verga for the Sport Therapy project, then on the pitch, accompanying the Giocare Aiuta a Guarire Meglio project. Much like last week ahead of the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Inter Campus representatives took part in an activity organized by FC Bayern in collaboration with Buntkicktgut, the organization which promotes training sessions for children from fragile communities in Munich.
The Social Community Exchange is an awareness-raising project that, for Champions League games, allows participants in the two teams’ social programs to meet their opponents in a new light: not only on the big stage illuminated by the spotlights of professional football, but also as ordinary people, sports enthusiasts, and fans. Opponents during the 90 minutes of the match, but friends for life. Because after the final whistle, human bonds persist and there will always be a new challenge to face together.
As proof of this, and as already happened during the two-legged fixture against Feyenoord, this time Inter and Bayern are trying to promote inclusion and positive support, setting a concrete example for children and fan communities.
Also present at the field was Javier Zanetti, Inter’s Vice President and a primary advocate of football as a tool for coming together.
Because without opponents, football would not exist.
