Inter Campus Tunisia: Spaces of Freedom

In the more than thirty countries where Inter Campus operates, the playing fields where boys and girls train, from Asia to Africa, from Europe to the Americas, are not just places for sports activities. For thousands of young participants, they are above all spaces with strong symbolic value: safe environments, places for meeting and socializing where they learn to be together, but also contexts where everyone can express themselves freely according to their personality, needs, and pace of growth. A few weeks ago, the project took an important step in Tunisia as well: the children are now training on a new, spacious, and well-maintained soccer field, which allows activities to be carried out in significantly better conditions and improves the quality of training sessions. The project continues to develop in the southwestern outskirts of Tunis, in the Mornaguia district, an area on the city’s edge often associated with a large prison complex that deeply marks the territory’s identity. During the last mission, carried out a few days ago, it was the children’s own words that simply conveyed the value of this new space. “Here I can do things that aren’t safe on the street,” explains one of them, “because there are so many cars passing by, and the ball can go far away.” The field thus becomes a protected place to play, run, and be together without worries. The benefit is not just for the children but also involves their families. “My parents are calmer,” another child says, “they know I’m here with my friends and coaches.” The new field therefore represents not only a logistical improvement but also a strengthening of the sense of security and trust that the project generates in the community. This is a significant step forward for Inter Campus in North Africa, also made possible by the commitment and perseverance of local partner WeWorld, which continues to work to offer children concrete opportunities for growth, play, and sharing.
