2021 draws to a close today, and for Inter Campus it has been an intense year full of activities dedicated to promoting the educational values of sport and the Right to Play. We have resumed traveling to those countries where the health situation allowed, from Eastern Europe to Lebanon and Tunisia. Seeing the children’s smiles again was certainly one of the most moving moments of the year, and we found the same enduring commitment from local partners and coaches, who are well aware of the importance of the work to be carried out.
At the beginning of December, a report was presented, in collaboration with the University of Padua, on the social impact of the project worldwide, and the results are extraordinary; to use the words of the Padua research team, the study “confirms the socio-educational value of Inter Campus, which, through the promotion of the Right to Play, contributes to the fight against educational poverty, the prevention of violence, crime, and substance abuse, and the reconstruction of the social fabric in the various complex territorial contexts in which it operates.”
But this was not the only recognition received. On December 7, Inter Campus received the certificate of Civic Merit of the Ambrogino d’Oro directly from the Mayor of Milan, testifying to the goodness and effectiveness of its work both globally and within the Milanese territory.
The commitment carried out in Milan was particularly intense, with hundreds of children met in schools to raise awareness on issues such as racism and discrimination and to exalt the value of diversity. The commitment to children with disabilities was also incessant, thanks in part to the collaboration with the NGO L’Abilità Onlus, which specializes in the field. This partnership joined the one already active with the Maria Letizia Verga Center and the Sport Therapy activities to ensure that even the young children in the Center’s rooms are guaranteed their Right to Play.
And then many new partnerships, with the Catalyst Foundation, UEFA Foundation, and Neo Apotek to name just a few, a sign that the Inter Campus family never stops growing and gaining new friends ready to support the important work it has carried out for over twenty years and will continue to do starting tomorrow, the first day of the new year. We wish you a very happy new year from the entire Inter Campus family.
