In Puerto Carre\u00f1o, time truly seems to have stood still: compared to other Colombian cities, there is more safety, and life flows slowly like the three rivers that surround it, but the needs and vulnerabilities among children are numerous here as well. For about a year, in addition to the 40 children from the town center, we have also involved 40 children of indigenous ethnicity, half of whom are girls. Living conditions are truly difficult: the houses the children live in are made of corrugated metal, walking is the only means of transport, and water comes from a small well near the home.
