Inter Campus and its Commitment to Disability

They represent 15% of the world’s population, approximately one billion people, and throughout their lives, they face discrimination and obstacles that limit their full participation in social life: these are persons with disabilities. For them, the United Nations (UN) proclaimed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 1981, celebrated annually on December 3rd, with the aim of promoting their rights and well-being.

For several years, Inter Campus has been dedicated to the issue of disability, particularly intellectual disability, offering inclusive football programs to children aimed at increasing the skills necessary to play and have fun, learning to interact on the field with children with and without disabilities. For example, in the two Special schools of Inter Campus Poland, children not only train weekly with our coaches-educators but also participate in tournaments with children without disabilities: an experience that allows them to put their acquired skills into play, making them even happier and more fulfilled!

In Italy, there are two initiatives where an inclusive football project is active: a permanent one with a group of children from the l’abilità Onlus Association, involved in a weekly program, and another linked to Gioco al Centro with participation in the inauguration of the Inclusive Park, offering play sessions for 2 or 4 children at a time on a safely equipped field set up for the occasion.
