Departing from Bucharest, the Inter Campus delegation flies over the Danube to land in Sofia, Bulgaria, a melting pot of diverse peoples and cultures. Of all the Eastern European countries, this one remains the most unknown today. Having joined the European Union in 2007, its economy, however, still lags far behind the community’s average standards. Often forgotten and impoverished, it is a Western nation with typical Eastern characteristics. Its official religion is Christianity, yet the territory is filled with minarets.
Coinciding with the reopening of schools, Inter Campus returns to Bulgaria for a new kick-off.
Our objectives remain unchanged: to utilize the game of football through a long educational journey for children and a training program for local coaches so that
physical and mental barriers may be overcome, fostering social inclusion and ethnic integration.
After nearly two years of remote activities, a week of practical training sessions was organized during the visit at the program centers in the country, specifically at the state orphanage in the city of Dupnitsa (Kyustendyl) and in the Roma village of Banya (Plovdiv).
