After an enforced two-year pause due to well-known reasons, during which dialogue between us and the entire Inter Campus world remained alive thanks to technology, perseverance, and the trust that one day we would be able to embrace again, the delegation of the Nerazzurri social project is once again in Romania for an itinerant mission across the three active centers.

Upon landing in Bucharest, two training sessions were held on the internal pitch of the “Marcellino” facility, an orphanage that hosts 32 young people. Many of them joined Inter Campus at the age of six, and after a long journey, we find them grown. The other group of children comes from the “Pinocchio” child support center.

Heading west by car, we reached the city of Slatina, where Pirelli sponsors the social project. The local representative, Mihaela Jonus, and General Manager Davide Meda welcomed the delegation. Here, two days of on-field training sessions took place with the three local coaches and around seventy boys and girls.

The visit continued northeast, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, in the city of Valcea, where many more training sessions were held with about a hundred children and the two local coach-educators. On the last day, we all boarded buses to enter the tunnel that took us two hundred meters underground, into the salt mine where the football mini-Olympics took place; a celebration for everyone at the conclusion of the mission.
